A student's time with a visiting author can be fun and educational. One of the greatest rewards of being an author is watching the reactions that children have when I read and discuss my story with them. International Adoption is growing in this country and it is important for children to understand the meaning of adoption and the reasons that the children are relinguished for adoption.

Children will encounter adopted children in their classroom, neighborhoods, as friends and in their own families. They will wonder why some children do not look at all like their parents.

In my book, Letter Of Love From China, a Chinese Birth Mother explains to her daughter, written in the form of a letter, about her birth, loving relinguishment and her adoption.

The story is for children ages 4-8
The illustrations are beautiful and detailed to draw the child in.
The beauty of scenic China is discussed as well as the cultural traditions and holidays.
Children will come away with an understanding of International Adoption.

The following will be conveyed to the students and teachers during the visit:
  • Read the book to the students.
  • Discuss the creation of the book.
  • Discuss the meaning and message of the story.
  • Share how easy it is to write.
  • Explain how a book is made.
  • Discuss the culture of China
  • Show Photos of China.
  • Show and discuss photo's and habits of
    China's Adorable Panda Bear.
  • Each child will receive a handout to
take home about the Panda Bear.
Questions and Answers.
